This blog section isn’t really a “new” thing - I’d often write about things I was personally working on, or thinking about, or going through in the original blog section. In fact, I originally started the website and blog with a place to share my art and personal thoughts, and later added guides and tutorials. However, with time, it started to feel a bit muddy trying to sort through the posts, and since the guides and tutorials were the most often read, commented on and shared, it made more sense to split out the personal stuff from the “work.” So that’s what this is.

Ort, or orts, is an archaic term meaning table scraps. These days, it lives on, primarily in the world of embroidery, as a reference to the snips of thread leftover from projects. Some people (myself included) collect these snips of thread in jars called “ort jars.” Mental Orts is a play on the term, as this is my virtual container for little threads of thought. While there aren’t many posts in here yet, I’m throwing this search bar down so I don’t forget later on, and as a separate blog, it gets its own RSS feed.
