Hi.

Welcome! I teach basic needle felting techniques, write fiber processing guides, provide tutorials, and blog about whatever comes to mind (including homeschooling my two kids and my life in general). Oh, and I make things too!

Finding the Pieces

You might see this and say “wait, I thought you were working on that other thing.”

This is still that other thing. Ignore the dark purple piece at the bottom. It was a test, but the purple was too dark, and I wanted to see if 3 threads was too much (it was). One embroidery floss thread is plenty, and in a lighter color, to be blended with the green and have darker purple veins added at the end.

These are known as wire slips in stumpwork (I think). Once I am done embroidering all the pieces on here, they will be carefully cut out and attached to the main piece.

The whole thing is somewhat synchronistic, as I am stitching while following along with my bestie's play-by-play of her divorce mediation. It's been a stressful several months leading up to this, and this is the third one, but it sounds like things are finally moving in a positive direction.

While I am not one to ever speak on the secret lives of the not so rich and famous (and I dont know any who are rich and/or famous), it is the ending of this relationship that inspired my florigraphy series of embroidery.

She was upset about losing the garden of wildflowers she planted, and I suggested planting all the angry flowers to bloom for him once she's gone. I do plan on doing a hoop relating to that at some point, but I needed to start with something that was a bit more self-love: all the flowers pertaining to arts and crafts. Then we can get on with the more vindictive and petty hoops.

Synchronistic how? Picking up and putting the pieces back together. Only I need to first create the pieces for mine, and she is only beginning to pick up the pieces for herself.

Keep on Stitchin

Nope, Try Again
