One of the few pieces that I’ll make that don’t necessarily contain any fiber/textile elements, but had to be made nonetheless - and harkens a bit back to my days of more “traditional” jewelry-making.

Still, it does contain a found object, a beautiful ceramic-and-cracked-glass donut pendant in gorgeous golds, greens and aqua hues (in the glass) and natural clay (for the back). The back of the pendant is signed by the artist who made it, though I’m not familiar with them and can barely read their signature. Possibly a K.M. Reed? The pendant hangs from the necklace with a knotted waxed leather cord in a rich mahogany color.

The rest of the necklace was made to coordinate beautifully with the disk, using a combination of wood, polished stone, semi-precious gemstones, dyed shells, glass, and metal beads in a variety of shapes and sizes for visual interest, separated into groups with silver-color chains. The full chain itself, sans pendant, measures 22" from lobster clasp to the final link, and the pendant from chain to bottom is 3" long.

Note/disclaimer: I have no way of knowing what is the composition of the chain metal itself, as it is a found/second hand/clearance bin/grab bag item (I don’t remember where I got it, I used to just forage and collect supplies from anywhere I could find) that I repurposed - as someone who has a nickel sensitivity, I can totally understand the frustration of getting a beautiful necklace or chain only to not be able to wear it without issue. If you absolutely must have this (and I don’t blame you, because I don’t really want to part with it), there are apparently ways to coat metals on jewelry which may contain nickel, but I have not tested them out myself. That being said, I don’t know if it’s nickel free, and cannot make any guarantees.
